I'm staying at my parents for the next few days and yesterday we were inundated by rain, the likes I haven't seen in a long, long time. No thunder or lightening, just a steady downpour.
About 8:00 AM, I put on my running gear and was preparing to go for my normal 3-5 mile jaunt. My mother saw me doing so and asked me a question that amused me.
After first looking outside, she said: "You're not going out in that, are you?" Without thinking too much about it, I replied: "Sure, it's only rain. Why wouldn't I?"
I believe the above story illustrates one of the most important components to ever truly achieving your maximum potential and being all that you're capable of.
I share it, not because I think I am some sort of "commitment guru," or any other kind of guru. Rather, my purpose is for you to ask and answer the question, "What are you committed to?"
See, I know from working with many people over the years, the person who isn't really committed to being in shape would let a heavy rain stop them from their scheduled run.
But for a person who is really committed, nothing is going to stop them...No Matter What! And this is a big part of what makes them unstoppable.
Now, I am only using running and staying in shape as an example here. It certainly doesn't have to be that for you. It can be anything you choose.
But, if you ever want to truly achieve all that you're capable of, you're going to have to be really committed to what you're wanting to accomplish. There's simply no getting around it.
Rain, or no rain, in good times and bad, you'll be there, doing what you have to do, for as long as you have to do it. Because that's what real commitment is all about.
Well, that's it for now. As aIways, I hope that you find this information useful and it helps you to go as far as you want in life..."No Matter What!"
Until next time...
Keep reaching,
Jay
