For most of us, stress is part of our daily life. Like it or not, it's something we must deal with, and deal with effectivley. The consequences of not doing so can be far reaching.
The scary truth is, if you allow it to, stress will negatively affect each and every area of your life. Your health, job, even your relationship with family and friends are all susceptible.
The bottom line is this: You simply must take control of your stress before it ends up controlling you. This is where stress management comes in.
Below is just a small sampling of the many tips available for managing your stress.Take a look at them and use the ones that best fit you. And don't be scared to experiment with something you've never tried. You just might like it. :-)
Breathe And Relax
Learning to breathe from the stomach can be one of the most beneficial things you can ever do for yourself. Inhale, and the stomach comes out, exhale and it goes in. Breathing this way helps you relax both your body and your mind.
Count To Ten
Counting to ten when you're angry or feeling stressed out is probably something you've heard of before. The concept really does work, because it shifts your brain from the creative side to the more logical side. However, it needs to be done a little more creatively than simply counting to ten. I suggest you instead counto backward from 100 by threes, or maybe say your ABC's backward. This gives your brain the time and challenge it needs to make the change.
Get Some Sleep
There have been many books written on the subject of getting enough sleep, so I'll not try to duplicate that here. Needless to say though, sleep is a vital part of your stress management program. Too little sleep equals an increase in stress, no doubt. Do all that you can to get 7 - 8 hours each night.
Listen To Music
Music has the ability to work wonders concerning your stress level. The best kind of music to lower your stress is whatever you find soothing, be that jazz, classical, easy listneing, etc. The key is to find something that you find relaxing and listen to it while you relax.
Take A Vacation
Most everyone agrees that your job can be one of the biggest causes of stress. If you have a wild look in your eyes every time your boss ask you to do something, it's time for a vacation. Actually, it's way past time, but take one anyway. It can do you wonders.
Pamper Yourself
Visit the local spa and pamper yourself. Indulge in a full-body massage, or get an aromatherapy session to help you relax. You can always take a vacation if you really want to get the thoughts of work out of your system, but a massage will work between vacation time.
Find Your Inner Child
Find your inner child and just play. You can grab your Playstation out of the cabinet and bring out the games you usually play during your free time. Another idea is to listen to your favorite music or read some comics on the Internet. You can even play online games if you like just to get your mind off your work.
Final Thoughts
Keep in mind that the gist of stress management is not the methods you take for getting stress out of your system. The idea is to learn how to divert your mind from the problems that causes stress to give yourself time to relax and face the problem with a clear mind.
Well, that's it for now. As aIways, I hope that you find this information useful and it helps you to go as far as you want in life..."No Matter What!"
Until next time...
Keep reaching,
Jay
